ABOUT DUNIA
Situated in the heart of the popular central Serengeti, the serene Dunia Camp is the perfect foil for an exhilarating Serengeti safari: eight tranquil tented suites boast gracious décor and perfect privacy, with airy en-suite bathrooms to wash away the dust from a day adventuring in Africa.
Location + Area
Dunia Camp is special because it offers guests a tranquil and very private base from which to visit two of the Serengeti’s prime game viewing areas; the Central Serengeti valley and the Southern Serengeti plains. From its location in an exclusive valley away from heavy traffic, excellent game viewing can be accessed throughout the year.
Touching the earth Lightly
Dunia is a camp at one with the landscape: like the lithe cheetahs that pad across these plains it’s a camp that touches the earth lightly.
The dedicated staff of this small, intimate camp make every effort to minimise the environmental impact of offering a five-star safari in the world’s greatest wilderness area, and since 2009 the camp has been certified as carbon-neutral.

Wildlife
The area has a very high concentration of big cats and game drives combine migration viewing with the search for lion, leopard and cheetah as well as the illustrious rhino.
The secluded setting of Dunia Camp is close to the breathtakingly scenic Moru Kopjes where big cats take advantage of the granite protrusions to gain elevation from which to view their territories. The area around Moru Kopjes also includes the rhinoceros sanctuary – this is one of the few places in the Serengeti where you will almost certainly find the endangered black rhino.
The nearby Seronera River is also easily accessible from the camp – this perennial water source sustains large herds of antelope year-round, ensuring excellent sightings of the lion, leopard and cheetah that roam the plains.
Accommodation + Facilities
Dunia is an intimate camp with a simple yet graceful style that reflects the camp’s philosophy of leaving the lightest footprint while enhancing the Serengeti wilderness experience.
The eight spacious tents, slightly elevated on the slope of Nyareboro Hill, feature an en-suite bathroom and veranda from which magnificent views of the golden-grassed plains of the Serengeti unfold.
Canvas chairs and coir mats adorn the private verandas, while hurricane lamps provide a flicker of vintage charm as the sun dips behind the region’s iconic granite outcrops. Weathered wood, sturdy canvas and fine linen: Dunia is a place of comfortable simplicity and effortless charm, where unnecessary distractions are pared away.

One of our guests at Dunia shares her Tanzania safari experience on her blog
26 September 2012
Shirley Sinclair, guest at Dunia, Oliver’s & Sayari in 2012, shares her Tanzanian safari trip experiences.
About Dunia Camp:
“There were some dramatic views and landscapes as we travelled through the Serengeti National Park to our next camp, Dunia. (…). The shower was a bucket shower which meant someone had to bring hot water and fill our bucket up outside the tent, hoist it up and then when we switched the lever we had a nice warm shower!”
